Treating 'Gu Syndrome' is a long game that can take months or years, especially as the Gu are evolving with us. Consistent and diligent detoxing of Ropeworms is the most effective method we've found to do this.
'Gu Syndrome' is an ancient Chinese Medicine term that found it's way into the mainstream and gained recognition as we tried to understand long-term covid. Gu syndrome is used to describe mysterious chronic illness that develops over a long period of time and can be traced back to what we call 'pathogenic damp' taking hold in the gut or intestines. Western Medicine would use the diagnosis of IBS, Leaky Gut or other chronic autoimmune conditions that all seem to spring from a lurking pathogen that slowly invades the system and causes symptoms such as
Nervous system disturbances: anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, headaches, and even visual or auditory hallucinations. These cases often involve chronic viral infections or other elusive pathogens like Lyme disease.
Chronic gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, gas, irregular bowel movements, and strange sensations in the abdomen. Patients may also experience "brain fog" or mild psychological symptoms like bad dreams.
According to Heiner Fruehoff, one of the foremost researchers on 'Gu', in classical Chinese medicine, Gu syndrome was associated with "possession" by pathogenic influences, often referred to metaphorically as "demons" or "dark forces." The original character for Gu depicts three worms in a pot, symbolizing the harmful elements that can invade the body and "hollow out" one's health from the inside. They can have a possessive or parasitic element that will affect the mood and thoughts of a person.
As these mysterious, recalcitrant symptoms seem to present often in folks who are drawn to Chinese Medicine (due to it's holistic, customizable model), one of the best approaches for treating Gu, over the longterm is to help patients onto a custom detox protocol and begin purging modern day Gu, or Ropeworms.
Western Medicine has identified many types of parasites historically, but it appears that a new and unidentified 'alien' worm has been found across the globe (starting in 2009) enter, The Ropeworm. Almost everything on the internet uses the exact same verbage around the ropeworm basically because we're still figuring it out. It's not a traditional parasite because it's anaerobic. What we've been able to identify is that it exists in the body in 5 stages. In the earliest stages it is just mucous, or so we believe. By the time it reaches it's 4th and 5th stages, it's accumulated toxins, heavy metals, GMO's, developed jet propulsion, and managed to attach to the intestinal walls, and it's believed to travel to other areas of the body forming nests in organs and muscles. It essentially becomes sentient which is mindblowing, and most likely the result of the previously mentioned undigestible (and never before consumed by humans) components of what we eat. You are what you eat!
If you really want to go down the rabbit hole on this one, by the time it reaches the 4th & 5th stages of development, it's picked up human DNA and made it as far as creating mRNA which could alter the blueprint of our cells and evolution.
Western Medicine is largely dismissive of trying to understand what Ropeworm is, but most holistic practitioners agree that these entities are toxic, they feed off the host and we see major health improvements when they are removed, thus we label them parasites, or 'Gu.'
A metaphor that comes to my mind is likening these adaptations to the Great Plastic Island that is slowly forming in the Pacific. Some people say it's just plastic bottles and look away. But over time it's become an accumulation that's quite disruptive to the ocean ecosystem because it has started to develop its own toxic ecosystem. I hope this puts the Ropeworm into a useful context for you.
The more you're able to purge, the better. Treating 'Gu Syndrome' is a long game that can take months or years, especially as the Gu are evolving with us. Consistent and diligent detoxing of Ropeworms is the most effective method we've found to do this.
